On Wednesday, April 3, OnePlus unveiled a new AI Eraser function for its devices. With the help of this newest photo editing feature, OnePlus users can effortlessly produce photographs by automatically removing objects from a shot that detract from the main subject. The company’s entry into generative AI is marked with the release of the AI Eraser function, which is driven by its own huge language model. Later this year, the company plans to unveil more AI-powered features. Similar to Google’s Magic Eraser, OnePlus’s AI Eraser function operates. Similar AI-powered editing tools have also been released by Samsung for its Galaxy smartphone line.
OnePlus has revealed an AI Eraser feature for its devices through a press release. Utilizing the company’s own LLM (large language model), the application enables users to pick out and eliminate undesired things directly from the Photo Gallery. When users highlight certain elements in the image, including garbage, people, or flaws, the function will automatically create a new backdrop that complements the image’s general design and blends in with the surroundings. To demonstrate the new functionality, a “before” and “after” image sample is included in the release.
It has been announced that starting this month, OnePlus will progressively push out the new AI Eraser function to phones, including the OnePlus 12, OnePlus 12R, OnePlus 11, OnePlus Open, and OnePlus Nord CE 4.
The Chinese smartphone brand’s entry into generative AI is marked with the launching of the AI Eraser. “As OnePlus’ first feature based on generative AI technology, AI Eraser represents the first step in our vision to liberate user creativity through AI and revolutionize the future of photo editing, empowering users to create remarkable photos with just a few touches” Kinder Liu, president and chief operating officer of OnePlus, said in announcement.
In addition, the business proposed the creation of OnePlus AI and promised the release of further AI-powered features later this year. Following the release of comparable AI-powered editing tools by Google and Samsung, OnePlus has launched the AI Eraser function. Samsung’s Galaxy phones include a similar picture editing function in its Galaxy AI suite, while Google provides its Pixel smartphones with Magic Eraser and Magic Editor.
