Shubman Gill has fallen unwell just before World Cup and may not be able to work for a few days, if not longer. He is ill, according to a team official. It is still unclear if he will be able to participate in India’s opening match against Australia on October 8.
The opener is reportedly suffering from dengue, according to reports that surfaced on Friday, October 6. However, the precise nature of Gill’s health condition could not be confirmed. He is under the weather, and the medical staff is constantly watching him, a team official told Cricbuzz. He needs to get healthy quickly, we hope.
After scoring 74 and 104 in the first two games of the recently finished bilateral ODI series against Australia, Gill was rested for the third and final match. Gill did go with the team even though both of India’s official World Cup warm-up matches were ultimately canceled.
Gill (24) was understandably unable to take part in the Indian team’s practice sessions on Thursday, which has lent substance to rumors about Rohit Sharma’s opening partner in the match against Australia. KL Rahul or Ishan Kishan might be assigned the assignment.
